new & unique recordings to the discriminating music enthusiast.
My experience in working with a variety of artists in
virtually every musical style helps to give me a singular perspective
on the music industry.
Dharmapala Records is a label that I started as a tool
to bring this music to you, the listener. A few of the items featured are recordings from a renown female Lama of Tibetans chants, an ambient soundscape CD with haunting sounds of a Classically trained North Indian Singer- and that singer doing Bhajans set to dance/chill beats. Plus my own Latin guitar music project. Last year Vito joined long time pal keyboardist/vocalist David Joyce in the Dharma Buds' "New World Jazz Order" boldly going where melody driven jazz has never gone before.
I believe that there is a special opportunity today to
bring new artists & recordings to the listening public
thru independent labels and the internet that has
the potential to revolutionize the music business.
Radio stations are now pre-programmed by corporations
and lack the variety and innovation that characterized
FM radio when I was growing up. In rare instances you can
find 'out of the norm' program on the public radio stations,
especially the network of totally listener supported stations
under the Pacifica Radio banner such as KPFK in Los Angeles &
KPFA in Berkeley.
